My partner fellows and I felt completely honored to visit the US Embassy in Brasilia on Tuesday. The Educational and Cultural Affairs Specialist and her team offered us a lot of insight into the structure of Brazil's education, from the federal level to the municipal level, as well as a more complete picture of the role the US Embassy plays in Brazil- admittedly, I had a very limited view of their role.

Embaixada dos estados unidos da America!
An afternoon visit to CONSED, the National Council of State Secretaries of Education, gave us more insight into how the federal and state governments prioritize and act on schools' needs. Priorities of the current mandate include school funding and national standards (sound familiar teachers?)
